Why take a class?

If you are interested in the sport of agility, why not take a class? Classes are a great way to introduce yourself and your dog to the sport of agility. We offer a wide variety of instruction for dogs of all ages. It is never too early or too late to start training your canine best friend.

We have an ongoing class list for all our classes. If there is a class you are wanting to take please email us to be added to that class list.

For this class: Please bring an interactive toy and some treats your dog loves. Also, your dog should have a flat coller and leash.

Agility Foundation 1

An introductory class that focuses on the basic concepts of agility foundation using a combination of reinforcement and clicker training.

  • Gain control and ability to focus on you in a distracting environment by understanding reinforcement zone
  • Learn balance and hind-end awareness
  • Be introduced to concepts of targeting
  • Gain experience on foundation equipment, such as planks, the table, wobble board, the ladder, etc.
  • Be introduced to some basic agility obstacles such as the tunnel and jump
  • And many other foundation skills!

We will focus on a fun, safe, training environment to maximize your dog’s enthusiasm, confidence and understanding. It's all about FUN!

No agility experience required. Basic obedience highly recommended.

Agility Foundation 2

A continuation of Foundation 1. In this course dog and handler will work on:

  • Introduction to various handling techniques, such as front-crosses, blind-crosses, post-turns, etc.
  • Gaining experience on agility equipment such as the tunnel, jumps and tire
  • Learning the foundations of obstacle recognition
  • Advanced contact foundation work and targeting
  • Building solid weave pole entries

The advanced foundation work in this class will help you and your dog develop more control and fluidity while continuing to build value and drive usefull for agility.

Agility Foundations 1 or similar experience required.

NEW: Contacts and Weaves

This class introduces the dog to all our contact equipment: dog walk, A-frame, teeter and table. Dogs will also be learning the weave poles. Focus will be on learning the entrance into the poles and will work dogs up to completing 12 poles. Agility Foundations 1 and Foundations 2 is required.

Intermediate Agility Handling

This course focuses on learning more advanced handling techniques, as well as independent obstacle performance, distance work, advanced contact work and introduction to weaves. Speed, attention to detail, and smooth progression while transitioning from obstacle to obstacle will be emphasized.

Knowledge of foundational skills in agility required.

Advanced Agility Handling

In this class we will focus on advanced obstacle discrimination, high-end handling of all agility equipment and advanced distance handling.

Courses will be set up to allow the handler to focus on practicing and mastering recently learned handling techniques.

This course is for dogs and handlers with a strong agility foundation and that have been exposed to most equipment.

Agility Course Analysis

Students take what they have learned from previous classes and use that knowledge to gain better insight into making the correct handling choices for their dogs. This class focuses on breaking down agility course elements and patterns. It is designed for teams who are actively competing or who are looking to refine their handling performance for competition.

This course is for dogs and handlers that are experienced with ALL equipment.

Facility Information & Directions

Outdoor classes (approx May-Oct) are subject to postponement due to weather. These classes take place in a fully fenced grass area. There are no washrooms.

From Medicine Hat and travelling South, Southridge Drive turns into Range Road 60. Our outdoor facility is just 1 min passed South Boundary Road SE down the side road on the left.

Indoor classes (approx Nov-Apr) take place at a large barn five minutes east of the city limits off of Hwy 41. The barn is regularly used for horse riding lessons and has a dirt floor.

Go east on Highway 41A to Range Road 52 (Veinerville to RR52 is 1.7km) and south on RR52 for 1km. The property and driveway to the barn will be on your left.

Registration and Refund Policy

Final payment for class is due on Registration Night. Once registered, there are no refunds. In case of extreme extenuating circumstances, a refund or class credit will be given on a case-by-case basis as determined by the class instructor.

NSF checks will result in an additional $20 administrative fee.
